Home Decor to Look Out For in 2021

Even with 2020 in the rear-view mirror, it's fair to assume we'll still be spending a good amount of time at home in early 2021. Here's a roundup of popular décor and design trends to keep in mind if you plan to redecorate this year, so you can nest with the best.

Comfort and functionality
2020 was a year when most of us spent more time at home than ever before. Not only were we confined to our homes during our free time, but our homes also became our gyms, our schools and daycares, and (if we were lucky) our offices. All of these new demands have made comfort and functionality top priorities in home design.

Unused guest rooms and formal living rooms have been given more useful purposes. Home offices have gone from makeshift setups to more permanent work stations. The rise in popularity of overstuffed living room furniture signals that consumers are focused on actually relaxing in their living spaces. Furniture sellers are also seeing high demand for partitions and room dividers, as people look to subdivide their limited free space.

Things NOT To Do When Applying For A Home Loan

Couple meeting with a lender.

You’re shopping for houses and you’ve got your mortgage pre-qualification lined up. Great!

Keep in mind that there a few things you should NOT do:

  • Don’t make a major purchase. This will change your credit score and can possibly disqualify you from a mortgage.
  • Don’t change jobs unless it’s absolutely necessary. A consistent work history is crucial to lenders.
  • Don’t ignore lender requirements. Be absolutely clear on what the lender requires from you throughout the process and be sure to follow up on these items.
  • Don’t go it alone. Give us a call today so we can help you navigate the process and help you find the home of your dreams.

Together we can make this happen!

Minor Repairs Can Yield Top Dollar

Man caulking a window.

Imagine you are a buyer looking at your home. What do you think obviously needs repair?

Money spent on repairs can make a difference in the final sale price for an important reason. Buyers tend to overestimate the cost of performing repairs and will often reduce their offer by a higher amount in order to compensate for the expense.

A better strategy is to perform the repairs before putting your house on the market.

Home in the forest.

So much has changed in only a few months' time, and "the new normal" has renters as well as homeowners reconsidering their relationship with where they live. If any of the scenarios below sound familiar to you, it could be time to make a move:

Everyone could use some space.
